It is used for sequential processes with alternative or parallel step sequences. The sequences are configured and programmed clearly and quickly in a standardized method of representation (according to IEC 61131-3, EN 61131). The process is graphically described and is broken down into individual steps with a manageable functional scope. Actions for the steps can be defined and their execution can be controlled.
